This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Technology is a valuable teaching tool for differentiating instruction. Visuals and videos are wonderful ways to expose my students to a world of dance and encourage their appreciation for the arts.

I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in New York.

My students come from different ethnic backgrounds, however the majority come from the Dominican Republic. As students of dance, they are enthusiastic and crave learning about their own heritage as well as comparing and contrasting themselves with the world around them. Our school is considered to be an arts focused school, however we are having difficulty providing students with additional supplies and materials to advance their learning due to budget cuts and lack of funding for the arts.

My Project

The projector and mount for the projector will allow students to receive additional dance history instruction through the use of media. I hope to integrate the use of power points verses relying on chart paper and still photos as a way to learn about dance from a broader perspective (teaching about a choreographer, dance history content, etc). Students would also have opportunities to present work via power points when possible. This will allow students to take more ownership of their learning and expand their knowledge in the discipline of dance.

By donating to this project, you will be supporting the integration of technology within the discipline of dance.

This is an important tool to assist in differentiated instruction as well as connecting with students' interest in technology and building their appreciation for dance and the arts. Dance is visual and the more I can expose my students to the art form, the more they can build their appreciation and awareness of it's diversity and connection to humanity.
