Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative and curious children who are attending school like never before. The students in my class use devices to log into morning meeting and Google classroom to participate in our day to day activities. The children have come together to form a kind community with each child exploring, ”Who am I?” For many of the children, this class is their first experience in school.

Together with parents and caregivers, they are exploring curriculum and learning through synchronous and asynchronous activities.

Many students do not have limited access to technology and supplies. Through our screen time and lessons, we learn SEL and explore our home environments, our communities, and ourselves.

My Project

My project is to create more hands-on conversations surrounding emotions with my young students. Using age-appropriate social emotional tools such as the ones in my project will promote interdisciplinary studies and exploration of our largest unit: Feelings.

My early learners learn through play and exploration so in using the Build Me Emotions Legos, they will be able to express themselves through STEAM activities including building, designing, and role-playing.

These LEGOs are the perfect complement to the way my students learn and can provide them with extra resources while learning at home. By combining these tools with developmentally appropriate reading materials and story telling, my students will be able to model and understand resilience, social-emotional supports, and feel prepared for their future years in school.
