My Project

In math, students often focus on numbers and equations, but true mastery of mathematical concepts also requires clear communication, problem-solving strategies, and critical thinking. By integrating reading and writing into our math curriculum, I aim to help my students develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and improve their ability to express their thoughts clearly.

Through this project, my students will read about real-world applications of math and write reflections, explanations, and problem-solving strategies.

These activities will enhance their ability to think critically, connect math to the world around them, and improve their overall literacy skills.

Integrating reading and writing into math through the use of calculators can significantly enhance students' understanding of mathematical concepts while improving their communication skills. One way to do this is by having students write detailed explanations of their problem-solving processes when using calculators. Rather than just providing the final answer, students can be encouraged to explain why they used certain functions on the calculator, how they verified their results, and whether they found alternative methods.

Calculators can also be integrated into data analysis activities where students generate and interpret data sets. After using calculators to perform calculations, students can write about the results they’ve found and analyze the patterns or trends in the data.
