Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For many of my kindergartners, this is their first experience in a school. My students are curious hard-working, and they love to explore and learn. My school is a Title l school. It serves almost all low-income students, with many of my students speaking English as their second language. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or hold a pencil.

My Project

There is so much learning and growth in kindergarten. In math, students are setting the foundation to become proficient math students. The hands-on math manipulatives, like the Double-Sided Magnetic Number Tiles, Unlock It! Number Match and Number Rockets requested, will be used in math stations to reinforce skills and give my students a way to over-learn math concepts in a fun and engaging way. Yes! It is academic, but the students don't know they are learning. In addition, the math manipulatives will help students learn by allowing them to move from concrete experience to abstract reasoning and assist in developing their fine motor skills.
