Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an amazing group of 6th-grade students in a special education setting. My students come from diverse backgrounds and bring unique learning styles to the classroom. Many of them face challenges in understanding abstract math concepts, which can impact their confidence and overall performance in math.

To support their learning, we focus on hands-on activities, visual aids, and structured support to ensure that math concepts are accessible and engaging.

My students are curious, hardworking, and eager to succeed, but they often need extra resources to grasp key math skills. With the right tools, I know they can thrive and build a stronger foundation in mathematics.

Reinforce learning with math posters that outline key concepts such as integer rules, fractions, decimals, multiplication, and division strategies, which will remain visible throughout the year as constant reference points.

Engage in interactive learning with dry-erase boards, markers, and erasers, which will allow students to practice solving problems in a more dynamic and hands-on way.

Stay organized and prepared with basic school supplies such as notebooks, folders, pencils, and sharpeners that are essential for everyday use. With these materials, I can create an inclusive and supportive math learning environment where my students feel empowered to explore, ask questions, and understand math concepts at their own pace. Hands-on tools will help cater to different learning styles, allowing my students to see and touch math in action, making it less intimidating and more fun.
