My Project

Students come to school with traditional scissors and do not have the fine motor skills to cut. Students face many challenges in school, and for those with limited fine motor skills, even basic tasks can become frustrating. Adaptive supplies will make completing Math and STEM projects easier by reducing frustration and anxiety, allowing students to focus on learning rather than struggling with tools that are not designed for their needs.

Adaptive supplies will make completing Math and STEM projects easier by reducing frustration and anxiety, allowing students to focus on learning rather than struggling with tools that aren’t designed for their needs.

By providing the right tools, we can remove unnecessary barriers and help every student thrive./We give these scissors to other classes leaving our students needing adaptive scissors. Seven-inch loop scissors teach students the concepts of cutting independently. As they build finger strength, they can use 5-inch loop scissors for independent cutting. Students come to school with highlighters which is great to use on worksheets and consumable papers. Students often need to mark important information in library books, textbooks, and other non-consumable materials. Students need to erase highlighted markings for the next student to use. Communication folders are essential. Using white portfolio folders lets students add colored paper, which helps them see their work more easily. Many students see things better in blue, while others need yellow paper. Providing clear folders allows teachers and students to modify their folders to meet their visual needs. Using colored dry erase markers also allows students to see, write, and express themselves using the colors of their visual preferences. For my students to see, write, and succeed we need adaptive supplies for Math and STEM.
