My Students

My students are a large group of curious readers from Brooklyn, NY. These eighth-grade students love to debate and make connections between what they read and what they learn in other subjects. In addition, they are also always making connections to the real world. Many of my students do not have the resources or the support at home to purchase their own copies of books, so I am constantly searching for ways to put books in their hands, even if it means buying them the books myself.

My Project

My eighth-grade students are mostly reluctant readers who need excellent, engaging and relatable books to foster their interest in reading. Most of my students have very few books of their own, and many do not have the resources or support to build a personal library. Therefore, I would like to add these books to my classroom library so that my students can read them and take them home at any time.

Great books can inspire even the most reluctant of readers!

I know that having these wonderful novels in my classroom will inspire my students and will help to expose them to the power of the written word!
