This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I teach 3-5 year old students with disabilities, specifically autism. Due to the current circumstances, we are teaching remotely for the start of the school year. Many of my students don’t have the toys and manipulatives they need to get the most out of functional play time, which help them learn and grow in many aspects of their development.

My Project

I want to provide my students with the best opportunity to learn from home as we embark on this remote learning journey. Please help me give my students these materials for home and distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Play is super important during these early years. My students need toys to use during our functional play center. I would like to provide them, with these play materials, in their homes to be used during our play center. By the students have myself having the same platEngaging in play gives children the opportunity to learn about the world around them and how to interact with it, and it is linked to language development. Being able to manipulate and play with toys also leads to social skills needed during cooperative play.
