Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My culturally and linguistically diverse (CLDE) students work incredibly hard every day to learn English while adjusting to a new culture and school system. Many of them are newcomers to the U.S., navigating not just a new language, but also the emotional challenges of transition and change. In my classroom, I strive to provide a supportive environment where they feel safe, seen, and encouraged to grow.

This project will help create a calming and engaging space for my students.

The soft bean bag chair will offer a cozy spot to relax, self-regulate, and refocus—especially important for students who may feel overwhelmed during the school day. The sensory fidget toy provides a gentle, hands-on way to manage stress and improve concentration during learning activities.

We’ll also be reading The Wild Robot as a class, a beautifully written and accessible novel that is now an animated feature film. Many English learners benefit from using media like books and movies together to reinforce vocabulary, comprehension, and speaking skills. Seeing the story come to life on screen helps students make connections and builds confidence in their reading ability. By tying in the book with the film, students will have multiple ways to engage with the language and deepen their understanding.

With your support, I can give my students a place to recharge and learn in ways that speak to their hearts and needs. Every item in this project has been thoughtfully chosen to support their academic and emotional success. Thank you for believing in them!
