Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach kindergarten at a small, neighborhood school in Central Florida. Our school is a Title I school and the majority of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

The majority of our students start school speaking only Spanish and need an authentic experience to foster a love of learning and an introduction to vocabulary in these subject areas.

Our students are like little sponges as they are ready and willing to participate in these new activities! They are so excited to learn and it is our job as educators to provide the materials and experiences to help them reach their fullest potential.

My Project

Our kindergarten class in in need of 4 Personal CD Players tht will be used in our Listening Center with books and cd's. As students listen to stories, they will build language and sharpen comprehension skills.

The number of words a student hears at a young age has a direct coorelation to his/her reading success!

As students work on beginning reading skills, it is essential that they have a variety of ways to obtain language. Listening to stories with independent cd players will give children the opportunity to be engaged in a meaningful activity of his/her choice. Fostering a love of reading in kindergarten will help create life long learners!
