My Project

My young students with special needs in preschool through 2nd grade need high-quality picture books that spark curiosity and laughter while building foundational language and literacy skills. Books by Jon Klassen and similar authors offer stories told through engaging illustrations, humor, and simple language that are helpful for children with learning disabilities.

With these books, my students will develop language skills during our speech therapy sessions by learning to follow a story, understand sequence, and use visual cues to interpret meaning.

These books will help them make connections, laugh, and share stories—all key skills for early literacy and language development.

By reading books that combine humor, simple text, and impactful visuals, my special needs students will build vocabulary, practice storytelling, and gain confidence in their reading and speaking abilities. These lovely books will help my students grow as readers and successful communicators in a supportive, joyful environment.
