Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The specific items I am requesting will have a profound impact on my students' learning. The geometric shapes—cylinders, pentagons, hexagons, cubes, and pyramids—will help the children develop a hands-on understanding of shapes, improving their spatial awareness and their ability to recognize patterns. This tactile approach is essential at this stage of their development, as it allows them to explore shapes in a concrete, sensory way. The 40 containers of Play-Doh will enable them to mold and create these shapes, enhancing their creativity and providing a valuable sensory experience that will help them refine their fine motor skills. The colored markers for writing on the whiteboard will give them a tool to practice writing and develop coordination, while the pink markers for coloring will allow them to express their ideas and emotions creatively. The main goal of this project is to provide my preschool students with the tools they need to develop key early learning skills, particularly in geometry, motor coordination, and socialization. By incorporating hands-on activities and interactive learning tools like Play-Doh and the Post Office, I aim to create a dynamic, engaging environment where the children can build their cognitive, mathematical, and artistic skills. Additionally, fostering social skills through group play and communication will help them become more confident in interacting with their peers. Ultimately, I want to lay a strong foundation for their future educational success, allowing them to grow in both their academic knowledge and their ability to interact with others. My students are unique because they are in a crucial stage of development where their curiosity and ability to learn through exploration are at their peak. They are enthusiastic learners who thrive when given opportunities to engage with materials in a hands-on way.
