My Project

I am requesting colored math manipulatives, coins, and base 10 blocks. These will help my students build conceptual understanding in math calculation - counting, grouping, repeating groups (multiplying), and regrouping (borrowing or carrying). The different colors and shapes make it easier for students to visualize the calculations that their brains are learning to do.

I am also requesting manipulative flip books that can display up to 3-letter words at a time.

These will help my students learn individual letter sounds, learn sound blends, and, eventually, manipulate sounds with automaticity. These phonics and phonemic awareness skills are the foundation of literacy. Once they master these, they can build their fluency and comprehension skills.

Fun, engaging, multi-sensory tools create an environment that is conducive to learning - one where the students want to be in and participate fully. And tools that are specifically designed to support interventions in math calculations, phonics, and phonemic awareness are critical in helping students work their way up to grade level knowledge and skills.
