Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Watching my Pre-kindergarten students' curiosity and growth throughout the year is a wonderful sight! It is their first school experience and they are always excited for the first day of school. I can't wait to see them learning through reading books and early literacy activities. lMy students begin as 4-year-olds and by the end of the year, they are ready for Kindergarten. My goal this year is to expose my students to as many words as possible. My hope is that my students will begin to foster a love for books and reading. This is why I chose these items. I want to give them a head start as well as give them the materials they need to thrive. Using these material will help develop their letter recognition, early book handling skill as well as beginner reading skills. I hope to share these materials with my students in school and during remote learning days.

My Project

My project is promoting literacy through using board books, magnetic letters, letter writing centers and a language photo library. Our students are English Language Learners and will benefit greatly with early exposure to literacy. We will to use these materials daily, when we have literacy centers each morning. I also plan to use the board books to enhance the student's classroom library, improve book handling skills and unit studies this year. We will also improve Language Development which is very important for Pre-kindergarteners. The photo library will also help to improve our units of study. The materials that I am requesting, will help my little ones foster a love for reading and writing, as well as improve their vocabulary. I can't wait to see their faces when these activities are introduced. I enjoy seeing the love they have for books and the words and language they develop from reading books.
