Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright, energetic 6th-8th graders from diverse backgrounds in an under-resourced urban community. Many of them are English language learners and over 85% qualify for free or reduced lunch. Despite economic challenges, they show incredible enthusiasm for gaming and esports. While some have gaming experience from friends' houses or community centers, many lack access to modern gaming equipment at home that could help them participate in structured competitive gaming programs. This program will particularly benefit our students who may not connect with traditional sports or after-school activities.

Esports isn't just about playing games – it's about creating opportunities for leadership, teamwork, and personal growth.

Through structured Xbox gaming,

our students will develop:

* Strategic thinking and quick decision-making

* Team communication and leadership skills

* Digital sportsmanship and online etiquette

* Time management and goal-setting abilities

* Experience with tournament organization

This club will directly serve 10-20 students in its first year, with the potential to grow. Students will participate in:

* Structured practice sessions

* Internal tournaments

* Local school competitions

* Official Xbox-sponsored scholastic leagues

* Cross-school friendship building

The equipment will also benefit our entire school community through:

* Family game nights and community events

* Rewards for academic achievement

* Supervised gaming during lunch breaks

* Special education adaptive gaming programs

Your donation will help create an inclusive gaming community where all students can thrive, regardless of their economic background. Through Xbox esports, our students will learn valuable life skills while building confidence and friendships. The structured, supportive environment will help them develop positive gaming habits and explore potential career paths in the growing esports industry.
