My Students

I am blessed to spend each day with a great bunch of 2nd graders who are eager to learn! My students come to me in 2nd grade often reading on a kindergarten level. We not only strive to get them reading fluently on a 2nd grade level, but really push comprehension as well.

The majority of my students qualify for free or reduced lunches and often don't have a lot of learning opportunities available to them.

Many of our students don't have a lot of help or support at home either. Although some of our parents don't have the time, many of our parents just don't have the knowledge or skills to help their children.

My Project

I am requesting a set of take home books and folders to build comprehension. I need a 1st grade and 2nd grade set so that even my students who are not reading on grade level will be able to be successful. These kits will give the parents guidance on how to help their child at home.

Your help will ensure that my students will not only be able to leave 2nd grade reading fluently but also comprehending what they read, a skill that will benefit them throughout their entire lives.
