Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my social studies classroom, most of my younger students are learning about what is neighborhood, who lives in their neighborhood and what are the features of a community. My students will investigate the common features of an urban community; they will look at photographs and then share their observations. My students will create a web to record special purpose buildings that can be found in the neighborhood.

Since I work with a population of special needs students who are diagnosed with autism, learning disorders, and developmental delays, it is important to provide them with tools and resources to learn according to their learning style.

To ensure our lessons are inclusive and supportive to all children, it is important to provide a range of materials and activities that supports all students' learning styles.

However, my wonderful students prefer to actively participate in physical activities to better understand the subject at hand.

In addition, my students will benefit from a more vivid and memorable mental representation of the information so they can have a better understanding of the types of communities. My students need to 'Identify real-life connections between words and their use" and with these "Wooden City Building Blocks" they will be able to grasp the idea better.

These educational materials (Guidecraft Community Buildings and Guidecraft Community Building Block) will allow me to provide a fun and engaging way for children to learn important skills and concepts, while also fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and social skills.

I will purchase educational materials through the Teachers Pay Teachers to provide meaningful resources, worksheets and activities that will allow each student to become an independent learner and to develop specific skills. For all those great reasons, it is important for invest on a child's future now.
