Building Calm & Mindful Classroom Corners

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We want to set up safe and comfortable spaces in our classrooms. We do have limited space so we wanted to give spaces that were cozy for young bodies utilizing bean bags as opposed to sitting on rigid chairs all day. Additionally, we wanted to use visual and tactical items that students can redirect their emotions into. This will aid to provide their minds ways to rest & reset them. We also understand a lot of our students need to keep their hands & bodies busy so they may emotionally regulate themselves, especially in times of frustration, anger, & sadness they may experience throughout the days.

Our hope is this will prevent or limit the amount of student crisis that may occur in our young students.

We hope that it will allow them to not let their emotions trigger or hinder their learning by having these emotional breaks in this space.
