Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely love my students' curiosity, creativity, and resilience. They are eager to learn and thrive when given opportunities to explore hands-on activities. My classroom is filled with diverse learners who each bring unique talents and perspectives to our space. They inspire me daily with their ability to overcome challenges and work together as a team.

For this project, I am requesting LEGO sets to create a calming and engaging learning environment where students can build, explore, and collaborate.

These resources will serve as tools for creative expression, problem-solving, and teamwork, while also providing a calming outlet for stress relief. The tactile nature of LEGO encourages focus and mindfulness, helping students stay grounded during moments of overwhelm or anxiety.

The LEGO sets will be used in STEAM-based lessons to teach critical thinking, engineering concepts, and collaboration skills. Additionally, they will be incorporated into calming activities where students can use them during breaks or as part of social-emotional learning exercises. These materials will allow students to channel their energy into constructive projects while fostering a sense of calm and accomplishment.

My goal for this project is to create a space where students feel inspired, supported, and at ease. I want them to develop essential academic skills while also learning how to manage stress and emotions effectively. By combining creativity with calmness, I hope to empower my students to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

What makes my students special is their determination to grow despite obstacles. Many of them face challenges outside of school, yet they come into the classroom with open minds and hearts ready to learn. This project will give them the tools they need to thrive academically while also supporting their emotional well-being—a gift that will benefit them for years to come.
