My Students

We are a sixth grade team of 74 students in suburban Pittsburgh, PA. Our school houses grades 4-6 and has about 1,000 students. The sixth grade students love being the big fish in the small pond for a year before officially becoming middle schoolers. With the creation of a schoolwide STEAM room, Compass Studio, STEAM concepts are integrated into many classroom lessons and activities. We love to read, problem solve and collaborate. We take pride in our learning and work hard to prepare for the future.

My Project

Please help my classroom with the addition of several Keva Plank Building Sets. The building sets will allow students to apply STEAM concepts within the classroom in many different ways. The sets come with many pieces, options, and challenges to get students thinking critically.

The sets can be used for years to come as the building sets require no glue, staples, or nails to keep them together!

Students will be able to utilize the challenge sets daily during Titan Time (an enrichment and remediation period built into our school day). Students will apply critical thinking skills and get additional practice working with other students as a team. Communication and teamwork practice will help the students in all curricular areas. Success and failure at challenges are life lessons that will help students build confidence and the ability to keep trying!
