My Students

My students come from a variety of different backgrounds. It is an ethnically diverse population. Students speak a multitude of different languages such as Mandarin, Cantonese,Hindi,Urdu, Bengali, and Arabic. Over 75 percent of my students come from low income households with single family homes. Despite their challenges they all come to school eager to learn daily. They are inquisitive, creative, and thrive to do their best. Our school is using STEAM activities to get the students ready for the 21 st century.

My Project

The bridges and buildings kits are a perfect tool to use for the students to be successful 21 st century learners. By learning how to build bridges, students will learn how engineers work and what goes into designing a building that is used by people daily in all parts of the world. We will research and engineer different types of bridges such as suspension and arch bridges with all of the building materials requested. Students will follow the Engineering Design Process through out the STEAM activity.

By donating to our project, you are increasing creativity in our classroom which promotes innovative learners and problem solvers.

The bridge building activity allows students so many possibilities such as for kids to be creative , explore different materials, test ideas, problem solve and better yet be exposed to multiple academic disciplines of study.
