Building Better Spaces for the Bulldog Buddies.

Help me give my students 7 new pieces of sensory equipment including chairs, a crash pad, and a busy board panel so they get the sensory input they need in order to maximize their learning.

My Project

Having a sensory room for children with autism can help improve motor and social skills, and can tremendously help cognitive development. These children deserve to have a safe environment with items like the swivel chairs which will allow them to get the sensory input they need to function properly during the school day. Most of these students are sensory seekers so they're all the time climbing or jumping from things, and the crash pad can provide them with a softer land while also giving them the proprioceptive input that their little nervous systems need.

My goal is to help build a safe space for these children to be able to be who they are while getting what they need, so that they are able to maximize their learning and gain the education they deserve.

These are wonderful children who just want the same opportunities as everyone else, but have several obstacles to face everyday. I think that by starting with this sensory equipment, I can make those obstacles a little less difficult to get over.
