My Project

I have the privilege and honor of providing speech and language services to students in South Bronx, New York. My students are particularly special because while the odds may be against them due to the challenging environment they are growing up in, they come to school eager and willing to learn how to read and write. With your generous donation, I will be able to help my students hone their phonemic awareness skills using phonemic awareness materials that will help students recognize letter names, letter sounds, blend and segment letters which are the building blocks to learning how to read. After learning to read, students need to comprehend what they are reading. Materials such as comprehension skills practice cards will aid students understand a plethora of books presented to them in the classroom and beyond. So give me a helping hand in assisting the children gain the foundational skills needed to become better readers. You’ll also be giving them the world through reading "because books open windows to the world and have the power to transform lives." (Ralph Lauren).
