My Project

Our classroom mission is to empower our students to be their authentic selves through cultivation of community, integration of art, and growing a love of literacy. This begins with creating a classroom that is welcoming and inclusive. Decorations that are inviting like a rug for our reading nook will be useful during independent reading. Posters that allow our population to see themselves along with expressions of art and literacy. Classroom sets of markers, colored pencils and large sketch paper will come in handy during our quarterly art showcases where students have the opportunity to express their understanding of the ELA content through art. In addition in an effort to encourage our students to write, journals will come in handy with daily writing prompts. Lastly students will be engaging in reading intervention programs where they will need to utilize headphones during daily literacy stations. As we strive to build community through incorporation of music we will utilize the classroom blue tooth speaker. Setting routines and positive behavior intervention and supports are also necessary having rewards like reading stickers and fidget toys will be used as apart of this system.
