Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of the best parts about teaching STEM is that I get to teach students how to think outside the box! I also enjoy promoting "Free build". My students enjoy this very much. They are creative and insightful. I would like to continue to nurture their love for making. Free build is an important part of children's learning. It is essentially where students select materials of their choice, they can choose if they want to work with someone or by themselves, and then they build different things. There is no end goal. The only thing I tell the students is to be CREATIVE and create something NEW. Even though many projects will require recyclable materials, these materials can be used again and again! The blocks and tubular pipes would be new materials for the kids. Our STEM lab is growing, but we are still missing different materials. I would like to keep the students engaged by providing different materials. The gears from Lakeshore are very sturdy and can be combined with the current gears we have!

The requested materials in this project will be additional experiences for the students; that way students have the chance to work with different materials and explore different mediums.

My goal is for students to work with different building materials! This will continue to excite them as they work on various projects. As the STEM program expands, we are looking to try different materials and add different things to see what engages the students more. With your help, we will be able to have additional exciting things to use!
