Building an Orffestra: One Xylophone at a Time!

My Project

Help us give students a chance to play xylophones and bells to enhance their music class. I am really excited about new strategies I learned, through professional development, to play, teach and create music on Orff instruments for my K-5 learners!

Sadly right now, we do not have enough Orff instruments for every student to play one in class.

Students are so excited when they get to play instruments in class. It is my students' favorite thing to do in class! Teaching through Orff methods and instruments allows for students to learn in multiple ways like kinesthetic, visual, aural, and more! Teaching with Orff instruments when they need to take turns loses the momentum of the lesson; with enough for each student, the engagement will soar!

Orff instruments of different sizes and timbres are specifically designed to be adaptable for students of different ages and abilities.

These requested xylophones and bells will help me teach my students about pitch, instrument care, reading music, improvisation, composition, proper instrument technique, expression, and much more. They will be a wonderful addition to our music class! I can't wait to try these ideas out when I have enough for everyone to be able to play at the same time!
