Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a K-8 school in East Harlem, New York. My students are enthusiastic, inquisitive, and strong-willed. They are curious about the world around them and I am determined to provide them with books that not only mirror their own lives but also give them hope and inspiration for their future.

My Project

It is so important that the novels in my classroom reflect the racially, culturally, and socially diverse backgrounds that my students come from. Providing them with a library that reflects their families, cultures, and backgrounds will help them feel accepted and valued.

My students love to read and some of the books you see here were specifically requested!

Many of my students do not have a way to access high-interest books at home, and the only way they receive new titles to explore is through school.
