Building an Engaging Learning Environment for Students with Autism

My students need fun, colorful and rigorous literacy and math center materials. With the printing and laminating materials, the teacher will be able to create individualized lessons to help students with Autism Spectrum Disorder succeed.

My Students

My students are an incredible group of energetic First Graders who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our class is composed of 8 students, each with unique academic needs. In order to touch on each students needs, it is imperative that I construct and tailor individualized lessons. I do this by creating centers.

My students are passionate about learning and enjoy learning through game based instruction.

With these materials, I will be able to meet their needs while keeping things fun!

My Project

All of my students have an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis and each have different academic, physical, social and emotional needs. The term "spectrum" reflects the wide variation of challenges these students experience. Many students with ASD experience social and/or academic delays.

Having these resources like ink and laminating materials will allow me to proactively plan and execute individualized lessons based on each child's learning needs.

I will be able to create differentiated academic games (in all subject areas) that align with curriculum to foster these eager learners. My goal is to reach and educate each child while maintaining a fun, exciting, engaging and rigorous learning environment.
