Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, teachers in our district have focused on the effects of vertical math practices in the classroom. This includes having access to large, vertical, and erasable surfaces to work in small groups on thinking tasks they have been given throughout the year in math. Studies support that getting up and moving into groups to collaborate while working math tasks, increases students' thinking and involvement substantially.

Having access to materials that can be put out for math and stored easily during other subjects, is of high value in our sixth grade classroom.

Having surfaces that can be taken outside, or into our collaboration areas gives us the ability to have an effective math class anywhere, in or out of the school.
