This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am just one teacher who is part of a hardworking school community in New York.

Our school serves close to 500 students, about half of whom are English Language Learners and/or special education students.

My students at this project-based school are from all over the globe: Bangladesh, Dominican Republic, Togo, Senegal, and beyond! We work hard every day not only to master algebra and geometry, but also to become masters of the English language.

My Project

In my previous project, I asked for donors to help me build a thinking classroom for my students by way of WipeBook Flipcharts. When students get into groups and begin working on these flipcharts, the skills they now need to be successful go beyond rote memorization; rather, they need now communication, perseverance, self-reliance, and so much more (P Liljedahl, "Building Thinking Classrooms", 2020) .

And now, my students need the highest quality materials to write on, and take care of, their WipeBook Flipcharts.

Help me give my students these materials so that we can be not mimickers, but thinkers.
