Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students crave to be back in the classroom, they need social and emotional connections with the adults on campus, especially after the past school year. They are eager to be back in school and start learning-in person. Over 85% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch, and most of our sophomores have never been on our campus due to school closures. They are resilient, empathetic, and developing individuals that need emotional connections.
My Project
The idea is to hang pictures of students on a specific wall throughout the school year, using the Polaroid camera and additional film. Pictures of my young scholars will be of them doing labs, collaborating, and simply having a good time in science class.
Studies have shown that when students have the feeling of belonging in the classroom they are more receptive to learning in that particular environment.
They will see their faces reflected in the walls of our classroom and in turn feel like they are part of our classroom environment.
Thank you so much for considering helping me build that sense of community in my classroom!
