My Project

I am entering my third year teaching! My first two years of teaching, I taught fifth grade. Now, entering my third year, I will be teaching second grade! As one might think, my classroom library will need to be completely redone to accommodate my second grade students. I work at a title 1 school and being a fifth grade math and science teacher for two years only allowed me to build a very small class library that wouldn't be age appropriate for my second grade students.

My goal is to build a library that my students enjoy and want to utilize.

A great way to encourage independent reading is by providing students with books they find interesting. I have selected a variety of popular book series for second grade students that I feel would draw their attention to reading.

I am hopeful that the books I have chosen are books that my students will either be able to relate to or find interesting. I think that my students will share common interests with a lot of the characters. I am hopeful that these books for my classroom library will spark creativity and encourage not only reading, but writing as well. Please consider donating to my new second grade classroom library!
