Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from middle to low income families and are not afforded the same advantages as their peers. I would like to expose them to manipulatives, educational games, and tools in order for them to have a rich learning experience. I want this year to be memorable so that my kindergartners can build a path to becoming lifelong learners. With your help I'll be able to focus on teaching while having the best practice tools that support what I'm teaching.

My Project

Kindergarten is a critical step in learning concrete knowledge such as counting and knowing your ABC's. The counting links will allow my students to recognize a number and be able to count up to it. Meanwhile the peg number boards will be of great use when it comes to my students practicing their one-to-one correspondence.

The tactile alphabet match ups will be great for a small group to work together to match the beginning sound of a picture (a picture of a zebra's beginning sound is "z") to the correct letter of the alphabet ("z").

I plan to use the "All About Letters Pocket Chart" as a weekly ongoing lesson on different characteristics of each letter. This will be one of the most important items I am asking for because it has a variety of things such as photo cards, tracing cards, sounding cards, and fun-filled chants that students can use to remember the sound of each letter. The "All About Letters Pocket Chart" has an all-in-one approach and will successfully help me teach the alphabet to my students.

The "Sight Word Bingo" will be for my students to practice their sight word recognition. Kindergartners need to know a specific amount of sight words to pass onto the next grade level, therefore this is an engaging game to have them practice their sight words. It comes in a bundle of 3 different levels which is perfect for a classroom full of different learners!

The " Phonemic Awareness Folder Game Library" will help my students strengthen their phonemic skills by allowing them to play educational games that include rhyming, matching beginning letter sounds, and more!

Last but not least is the "What’s the Rhyme? Sorting House". I plan to use this as a station for students to practice their rhyming.
