Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Dear Generous Donor,

Imagine a classroom where every child can find a book that sparks their imagination, builds their confidence, and helps them discover a lifelong love of reading.

That is the classroom I strive to create every day for my students.

I am requesting books to build a diverse and engaging classroom library that meets the needs of my young readers. Many of my students do not have access to books at home, so our classroom library becomes their gateway to new worlds, knowledge, and endless possibilities. With high-interest books at their fingertips, students will develop strong reading habits, improve their literacy skills, and see themselves reflected in the stories they read.

My goal for this project is to cultivate a community of readers who feel excited and empowered by books. I want my students to have access to stories that inspire them, challenge them, and help them grow as thinkers and learners. By providing a wide selection of books at various levels and interests, I can ensure that each child finds books that meet their needs and fuel their curiosity.

What makes my students special is their resilience, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn. They come from diverse backgrounds, each bringing unique experiences and perspectives into our classroom. Many face challenges outside of school, but inside our classroom, they are explorers, storytellers, and knowledge seekers. Books have the power to uplift and inspire them, and with your support, they will have the resources they need to thrive.

Your generosity will make a lasting impact on my students’ education and their future. Thank you for believing in the power of books and for helping to create a classroom where every child can discover the joy of reading.

With gratitude,

Mrs. Shiflett G.H. Reid Elementary School Grades 3-5
