My Students

My students attend a school in a suburban environment outside of Columbia, South Carolina. 54% of my students come from a minority background and approximately 50% receive free or reduced lunch. My students have plenty of exposure to technology, and I want to enhance their learning experience by having engaging science books to help them understand my science curriculum.

These students come from very different backgrounds and have a range of talents, abilities, and dreams.

They come to me for sixty minutes a day, five days per week. Having current science titles to access will open up a whole new world for these kids!

My Project

My students need access to well written, current non fiction books to help enhance their understanding of the world around them. My classroom library needs to be updated with current titles to build on the knowledge that I am teaching them. Using current science titles will help the students to gain knowledge of my curriculum.

I would like to have current titles in my classroom library so that I can help my students to realize the all they can gain from enjoying books.

The books that I've selected have engaging photos and current, up to date information. These books will be used for direct instruction, resource material for projects, as well as being selections that can be thumbed through if students have completed their assigned work.
