Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a brand new Pre-K center that provides developmentally appropriate practices and a safe environment that is conducive for learning. Our mission is to provide opportunities for our students to learn and grow through authentic experiences that will build a solid foundation for their academic success. The program we provide our students incorporates interactive activities, student-inquiry based lessons, and appropriate social and emotional experiences that target the holistic development of a preschooler.

Our school is located in a low-income area that strives to provide support to our students, as well as their families.

We are continuing to build relationships and incorporate the cultures of our students and their families into our everyday instruction.

My Project

My students need toys for their block area that will help them understand the community around them. They need people of different ethnicities, occupation, and people who have disabilities in their center to make connections to their every day lives. They will be able to use these toys to build their family and make connections to other peers families in the class. Also, they need roads and buildings to create their neighborhoods.

Building a community helps children understand that people share differences and similarities.

They learn to relate to one another and find things in common. They learn more about themselves, as well as each other.

Block play is essential for a child to learn about their environment, to work on their fine motor skills, and helps build their language skills.
