My Project

This project will benefit 8 students who spend the majority of their day in my special education classroom. Most of my students are on the Autism Spectrum and need sensory tools to be ready to learn and social skills instruction to learn how to stay safe and calm while playing with peers. Because these students spend so much time out of their classroom, I also teach reading, writing, and math in a small group setting, and we would love to have some comfy areas in which to grow our reading skills.

The use of our library area for reading is used daily in our literacy centers.

My students are learning to read (with pictures and words) and growing their stamina. We need a comfy area to sit while increasing the time we can read on our own. This is also a space used when students need a break and get ready to learn. The sensory materials on our list will help students "get back to the green zone" and be ready to learn. Additionally, the students have daily social skills time in which they learn to take turns, share, and trade building toys. We require some new items to increase these skills and imaginative play.
