Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is aimed at fostering a culture of independent reading among the students in my classroom. The primary objective is to curate a diverse library of several hundred books, encompassing a wide range of genres such as novels, comics, short story collections, and graphic novels. This project includes books that my students have told me that they want to read: Raina Telgemeier's series that includes Smile and Drama, Black Clover, House of the Scorpio, and the Silver Eyes. It also includes some popular favorites like Naruto and Pokémon.

Access to captivating literature plays a pivotal role in igniting students' passion for reading and nurturing them into lifelong learners.

As we progress through the school year, it's heartening to observe the students enjoying the opportunity to immerse themselves in books during class or take them home. Many of our young readers have already raced through most of the manga titles available on our shelves. This project aims to bolster our collection, ensuring there is always something new and exciting for them to explore.
