Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project supports student learning through our independent reading program. Everyday, students read in class. They pick out books they want to read and are able to take them home.

One of the greatest motivators for learning is having choice and voice in learning.

Students have specifically requested The Hate U Give, The Magic Misfits, Whiteout, The Promised Neverland, Concrete Rose, and the manga novels in this project. Some of the other books such as Fever Year are connected to curriculum units in seventh grade. The other materials in this project are to help maintain a safe and productive learning environment. The project includes wipes, sanitizer, and soap sheets to help keep the room clean and so students can safely sanitize. The eraser caps are meant to give pencils a second life.
