Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is aimed at fostering a culture of independent reading among the students in my classroom. The primary objective is to curate a diverse library of several hundred books, encompassing a wide range of genres such as novels, comics, short story collections, and graphic novels. This project includes popular favorites like Dragon Ball Z and other highly requested manga novels, catering to our students' interests and preferences.

Access to captivating literature plays a pivotal role in igniting students' passion for reading and nurturing them into lifelong learners.

As we progress through the school year, it's heartening to observe the students enjoying the opportunity to immerse themselves in books during class or take them home. Many of our young readers have already raced through most of the manga titles available on our shelves. This project aims to bolster our collection, ensuring there is always something new and exciting for them to explore.

Furthermore, our school employs the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework to acknowledge and reward students who exhibit positive behaviors. Under this system, students accumulate points for their exemplary conduct, which they can later redeem for various prizes. The Ring Pops acquired through this project will be a valuable addition to our PBIS store, incentivizing and motivating students to maintain and showcase their positive behaviors.
