This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, I found myself unexpectedly creating an ELS kindergarten classroom for six amazing boys in what used to be an office space. It’s been a chaotic, challenging ride, but these kids make every second of it worthwhile.

They’re some of the most incredible kids you’ll ever meet, but getting the right tools and resources to meet their needs—and give them what they deserve—has been a huge financial challenge.

Most of my students use AAC devices to communicate, and all of them have unique sensory needs that shape how we approach each day.

Starting a classroom from scratch isn’t easy, but it’s coming together, thanks to my students’ resilience and the support of an amazing school community. That said, there’s still a long way to go. We need sensory tools, hands-on learning materials, and even basic furniture to make this space one where these boys can thrive.

Every contribution helps make this classroom a safe, engaging space where my students can learn, grow, and just be kids. Your support means the world to me and, most importantly, to these six incredible boys. Thank you for considering us!
