My Students

Have you ever been bullied by another student at school? These interactions can shape a child's attitude towards school making it a scary and unpleasant place to be. I don't ever want my students to feel this way. That is why we are focusing on making our classroom bully free.

I have a FABULOUS class of 25 fourth graders in Georgia.

We are a group 50% boys, 50% girls. We are a mixture of all different races, nationalities, and abilities. A large percentage of my students qualify for free/reduced lunch. They are an eclectic mix of students, but they blend well together in the classroom to make each day new and exciting.

My Project

I am requesting the Townsend Press "Bullying in Schools" book to help educate my students on the characteristics of a bully and strategies for preventing bullying. Students will read the character education posters and identify qualities that should be exhibited in the classroom. I will use the requested pencils and treasure box to reward students who exemplify the characteristics that the students have identified. By focusing on these positive behaviors and attitudes I hope to eliminate the presence of bullies in our classroom. We are going to use the scented markers to create posters to advertise that our classroom is a bully free zone and to illustrate the character traits the students identified. The clipboards will allow students to create drafts of the posters while comfortably sitting on the floor with their group members.

I am working to create a safe and nurturing learning environment that is free of bullies.

This project will allow my students to gain a better understanding of what a bully is and how to combat bullies by practicing positive behavior in and out of the classroom. Please help me accomplish this goal!
