Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a resilient group of young people. They are strong advocates and facilitators of their learning. Together we are cultivating an equitable learning environment where everyone is a teacher, and everyone is learner.

The students long to have books that resonate with their realities.

They are curious, empathic and knowledgeable of diverse cultures. They actively seek to read about others and find parallels in their experiences. They have a profound understanding of the power of books. My students understand that a book can serve as a bridge between worlds.

My Project

Help us continue to build our library! Our youth deserve a classroom library that reflects their diverse world! A diverse bookshelf is a critical step in exposing our youth to diverse communities and cultures. It is through literature that students build empathy, cultural awareness, and critical consciousness.

We are in the process of building a classroom library that will impact lives.

This selection of books will bring authors from all walks of life to our bookshelf. Students will be able to explore a library where the authors look, act and talk like them. Representation matters, especially in the classroom and especially in the community that I serve. One book can be the bridge between worlds. One book can make them feel seen. One book can make them feel heard.

All it takes to fall in love with reading is a good book. One book can change the world. Be a part of our success stories by donating to our project today.
