My Students

My students come in eager to learn everyday. They are excited to see what story I will read them each day. Even though many of my students eat breakfast at school they are more worried about when we are getting our snack then what they are learning about.

My students have one way to show there learning right now and I would like to give the opportunity to pick what works best for them as a learner.

My class is from 9 different ethnic groups. Right now I don't have the hands-on tools that these kids need to expand on what we have been learning. We use a lot of paper and pencil to demonstrate their knowledge. Having a variety of toys to create with would allow us to be more successful first graders and life-long learners. At our school, we are working together to achieve more. My students will continue to benefit from activities where we can be working together to achieve.

My Project

I have chosen gear, magnetic, and block toys so the kids can build anything they can imagine. They will also help build fine motor skills, creativity and problem-solving. The creative Builder Set, allows the kids to learn while playing. Building robots, trucks, helicopters at their own style! I can encourage students to be creative and learn basic coordination, counting, designing, sorting and logical thinking through playing with the new building sets.

Now my students do not have any idea what these tools are for in the real world, but when we play and experiment with them they will also gain knowledge of how the real world works.

I feel like all of these toys would really up our inside recess productivity and creativity. Currently, we have only a very few different block and about 4 kids a day can play with them. Having all these extra amazing toys would allow all 20 kids to be fully engaged!
