Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am an occupational therapist working in a low socioeconomic area and my students face a multitude of challenges. Most of them do not have the necessary games and resources that support the development of foundational skills needed to engage in activities such as writing.

I am requesting tracing boards and games that allow my students with disabilities a more engaging and fun way to acquire writing skills!

As an occupational therapist, I am always looking for new ways to engage and help my students develop skills through play. Every time they come to the treatment room, I am very passionate about exposing them to a variety of activities and methodologies to promote their learning.

Studies support a multi-sensory approach using varied media to increase the children's interest in handwriting activities. The sand, tracing boards, lego alphabets, mystery box, and pop beads will help my students become more confident by allowing them to develop finger control, learn how to orient their movements from top to bottom and left to write, and master the alphabet and letter name and sounds. Having access to these items in occupational therapy sessions will help my students become more engaged and stronger learners. Thank you for supporting this project!
