This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I hope you’re doing well. I’m excited to share the amazing progress our special education reading program has made this year, particularly for students with Down syndrome. We focus on “reading for meaning.” Students need to feel connected and enjoy what they are reading.

Many of our students are now reading books using 30–120 sight words that they have mastered.

This success reflects their hard work and the tailored support we provide. We create personalized materials like customized books, Lotto boards, flashcards, and reading comprehension sheets. Our students really love them, and they help keep them motivated to keep reading. However, producing these resources can be costly, and we often use our own funds for supplies.

We are committed to providing the best resources for our students. Your support can make a real difference in funding these essential materials. Your contribution would help us continue providing the personalized resources our students need to succeed.
