My Students

The students in our school are challenged to do their best and to learn different ways of solving problems. We are a rigorous school and my students work hard at learning how to work with others and to problem solve as they create projects.

The project-based aspect of learning helps students to apply what they know and to build on each other's strengths.

Students are so proud of themselves when they are finished and their end product goes up in the hall.

My Project

In this project, I'm requesting materials including wobble stools, building bricks, magnetic toys, and more. Hands-on projects using building bricks, Knex, and straws help students to problem solve in a real way. They have to creatively think, try it out, adjust their thinking, try again, and collaborate with others. This increases focus, perseverance, and builds community among the students as they work to fix problems and celebrate success together.

Their thinking will be challenged in a fun and creative way as they learn to use perseverance as well as trial and error to determine what works or doesn't work and then be able to discuss with each other why.

Wobble stools provide students a way to focus their energy on learning while moving at the same time. It is very difficult for many students to sit still and focus. Students will be excited about learning and want to continue exploring and creating.
