Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a first year teacher, I have grown quite close to my diverse classroom. We are a 4th and 5th grade combo class. The students love learning about coming of age stories. They are excited to see what middle school and high school will be like.

I know the students enjoy having a young teacher because they are always asking me questions about the world.

They have not had an equitable opportunity to build their background knowledge.

My Project

The books chosen for this project are great stories designed to have students fall in love with reading chapter books. Holes by Louis Sachar is a great coming of age story that will empower students to become independent learners. The Witches by Roald Dahl is a fun story that helps build students background knowledge of different cultures.

The classroom keeper and calendar provide an equitable classroom environment.

It will help the students have the same resources available that most modern classes have.

The Magnetic whiteboard is heaven sent for our classroom combo. I know the students from our class struggle with having only one area of focus in the classroom.
