My Project

In our world history class, the students will use colored pencils, scissors, and tape to start creating their world civilizations.

As a first-time teacher, I had no basic supplies of pencils, pencil sharpeners, markers, crayons, rulers, scissors, and paper products when I entered my classroom.

My students will be starting a presentation on creating their world civilizations. The first part of the project requires them to color in squares to make their oceans, land areas, mountain regions, etc. The project is ongoing throughout the semester, but without the basics (colored pencils, scissors, tape, etc), the students can not begin their project. The materials on my list will help create a welcoming environment that makes the students want to stay and do their work. Our class is portable, and many papers have wear and tear, but I plan to use the lamination tools to protect the papers and projects they create. I will use the manila folders and bins to store the materials, as the closest ones are mouse- and roach-infested.

My goal for the students is to have the materials they need to go beyond the project and research the great inventions in World History that make up our world today.

I have a group of freshmen students whose current and future goals to succeed in high school and post-secondary are above and beyond my expectations as a teacher. This group of students is not just ambitious, but they are also filled with potential. They aspire to be future doctors, nurses, and individuals who want to make a difference not only in their lives but also in the lives of others. They are our future, and I hope to help them succeed.
