Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a place where kids come as strangers and leave a part of something huge. Kids will come back, year after year, in order to come back to the place they called home for three years. The important thing is the kids love to be here, because the teachers love to be here.

Our school is often compared to a family.

We are a small public school in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My students come from a variety of households and cultures, yet one thing they all have in common: we are in an amazing community and our school is filled with love and hope.

My Project

My students recently requested books for their classroom library. During an ELA period, we went around the room and students asked for specific books they would like to see in their classroom. In this project are those books, along with classic series like Harry Potter and the Hunger Games. After almost a year and a half at home, these books will foster the love and community which can take place in a classroom.

I am excited to see these students create a love of reading, which can take them into new and unknown worlds.
